Black trans people! We mean folks who identify personally as such and are committed to the whole of our community. We specifically are inviting folks on the full spectrum of Black transness; transsexual, transgender, trans*, gender nonconforming, nonbinary.
21+ within the United States.

Travel will be handled by a licensed travel agent with deep history in the LGBT community. Where possible, we will work to meet the necessary accommodations for all participants to ensure safe travel.

Black Trans Family Reunion will be held in New Orleans, LA. Its rich and deep history of Black trans community will be on full display and will anchor our time together. We are not publicizing our location broadly as a safety protocol.

Safety and security is a critical component to Black Trans Family Reunion. From the outset, our partners at Fortified Justice have been at the table to help us build the safest safe possible, because we keep us safe and we deserve nothing less. We will have physical security onsite around the clock and safety protocols in place.
We will also be asking for community accountability and safety towards communicable diseases like covid 19 and flu.

We are creating something rooted in wellness. We will talk about our collective freedom and liberation, but we will also laugh and dance. We will learn about what we do in the world, but we will also ask who you are in the world. We ask that you participate to your fullest, and try to leave the pressures of the world, even for a few days, you deserve it.

Our hope is to have something for everyone. We are dreaming of wellness in the widest, Blackest way possible. Whether you love something traditional like somatic grounding or pulling up to the spades table or you simply want to take a nap we are offering a full spectrum of options to meet you how you come.

Described as stylish, vibrant, and full of personality! One of the best boutique experiences New Orleans has to offer, they are also excited to host us. Everyone will have their own accommodations, exact location will be released to participants with confirmation.

We have built this schedule with you in mind. We are working deep in New Orleans community to make it local, Black, trans, and full of joy. We are so excited to host you, flow is subject to change.

The space will be held and facilitated by seasoned allies so that all trans people will be able to participate without worry of safety/security, logistics, etc.
The Coordinating Council is made up of Black Trans people who believe in our collective power. They have advised on the structure and agenda of this convening and will hold the facilitators accountable to the needs of community and the outcomes set forth.
Black Trans Family Reunion is being dreamed up by Ace Xavier Portis and is fiscally sponsored by Fortified Justice, a program of Blueprint NC, a 501c3.
